EMDR Consultation

Kara Niccum, M.S., LMFT, LADC

EMDR Therapy Training Part I and II Consultation
As a Faculty Licensee for The Institute for Creative Mindfulness’s EMDR therapy training, I believe consultation is the essential link between training and practice. I recommend newly trained EMDR therapists begin consultation within one month of Part I training and complete five of their 10 hours between Part I and Part II trainings. Begin Part II training with experience under your belt so that during Part II, it all comes together (lightbulbs will go off!).

EMDRIA Certification
As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, I work to help consultees blend the technical elements of the three prongs and eight phases of EMDR therapy with their therapeutic intuition and creativity. Many therapists find EMDR therapy a natural fit, many feel like a fish out of water, most fall somewhere in between. No matter where you’re at, EMDRIA certification allows you to refine your skills. Certification shows the professional community and the public that you value EMDR as a therapeutic approach enough to invest additional time and energy into growing as an EMDR therapist. It denotes greater understanding and clinical skill. I strive to provide a collegial atmosphere where consultees feel supported and encouraged, yet challenged to grow. If you’re interested in taking your EMDR therapy practice to the next level, EMDRIA certification may be for you.

Professional Development

If you are already certified or uninterested in certification at this time, I am happy to provide consultation as part of ongoing professional development.
